Cera was nice enough to provide waxing during the party! I received an eyebrow wax and an Intern John “Vixen wax” (Brazilian Wax). Continue reading Cera Wax Studio. Home of the Ouch-less Wax!
I had the honor of being a panelist at the 2016 Philadelphia Natural Hair Show! The topic was Black Women & The Perception of Beauty within Media! Boy, was it a lively discussion! Colorism, texture discrimination, weaves vs natural hair were some of the topics that got the naturalista’s charged up!
The discussion was the inspiration for my video 5 Clap Backs for Weave Haters. I wanted to push the message that no one is less natural for wearing weave, which was a misconception during the panel.
After the panel I dived right into the festivities! The Philadelphia Hair Show was packed with vendors selling African print clothing, black owned hair care products and natural textured hair companies. I was in heaven!
For the four past years, I’ve been attending Redsprinkle’s POP Beauty Lounge. I’m glad I get to be apart of this evening of fashion, beauty + philanthropy!

Being a beauty blogger can be a messy job! Between my bathroom sink and my bath tub I have my work cut out for me. I have so many hair and makeup products that I use that it gets crazy!
I recently made the switch to Viva® Vantage®! During my 7-Day Switch Up, I used Viva® Vantage® towels to do all of my cleaning! After 7 days I still have lots of towels left because the Stretchy-Strength of Viva® Vantage® made the towels very durable! Perfect for my large bathroom beauty disasters!
Here are some beauty cleaning tips!
- Clean you counter as soon as makeup hits it!
You don’t want the product to get hard or sink into the surface of the counter. I simply wet a Viva® Vantage® towel with water and give my counter a few swipes. One towel was all I needed because the great scrubbing power of it didn’t leave any makeup behind. Continue reading Beauty Cleaning Tips! Viva® Vantage®

It was a start studded event for the Boys and Girls Club! This is the 3rd annual white party benefiting Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington thrown by Washington Redskins wide receiver, Pierre Garçon!
Everyone looked stunning in their white ensembles. But what does it take to get ready to an event like this? Well, Pierre says all he needs his suit press and some coco better and lotion for his face. [LOL]
While he may be low maintenance for himself he gave all he could to make sure fundraiser was a success! According Adweek, this year’s the benefit raised 106,000 for the organization! In 2013 the fundraiser brought in $30,000 and in 2014 they racked in 100,000.
Kudos to Pierre for raising the stakes each year for an organization he says means a lot to him about he grew in an a similar atmosphere.
Can’t wait until next year! xoxo – Naila

I love partying with DC’s Glitteratti and posh steakhouses like STK are the perfect place to do it! To commemorate one year of being in the District, this Dupont eatery dolled out of the stops! The theme was the prohibition era and this party was hands down the highlight of my week and the reason I struggled at work the next day. Hey, since it took me a whole year to make it to STK, I was going to indulge! I made a couple of trips to the lady in the dress made of champagne glasses and started my single-ready-to-mingle rounds.
I made sure I took all of my pictures, before I started eating for an optimum flat stomach Material Girl, Turtleneck Bodycon dress because, um, once I made it to the dinner table it was going DOWN!
Of course I ran into all my homies. Aren’t DC blogger’s hotties!? Honorable mention goes to Yan of MyDocumentedCloset
The drinks and food were to die for! It felt so good sipping with my ladies Jennifer of http://www.commecoco.com/, Carly Martin, Miss Vannette of http://www.missvannette.com/, Ashley Joy of http://lifebyashleyjoy.com/. STK is now on my Sunday brunch list!

Natasha of The YBF sat down with the members of ColorComm (Women of Color in Communications) in Fairmont hotel to talk about her journey to young, black and fabulous! Started in 2005, because Natasha was bored with law school and there was nobody else covering black celebrities, The YBF now stands as one of the top gossip sites today. As you can imagine, her words had us waiting with baited breath.
As soon as moderator, Mercy Chikowore opened the floor for questions I was the first to pick Natasha’s brain on how she does The YBF so well! Rule number one, never go to see a great person speak and not ask them a question. As the discussion went along the women of ColorComm continued to pulled insightful guidance from the creator of TheYbf.com
Natasha dropped so many jewels that could help bloggers, entrepreneurs and 9-5ers alike, that I created a useful sheet called : How to be a YBF Entrepreneur
“Find a niche. Find the big companies with big money who is trying to reach a certain audience. They are looking for that group that spends money.”- Natasha Eubanks
(This was my question.) To maximize productivity, entrepreneurs should create a set schedule for themselves which includes a start and stop time.
Sometimes being good at something, or being really smart isn’t enough to be successful at that job at hand. You must be passionate about the things you are working on to really soar!
Apple wasn’t lying when they said “there’s an app for that!” Make your life easier by implementing apps in your day to day activities. There are so really cool apps out there. Apps that get honorable mention are: Notefuly (Sticky Pad App), iFax (Send and receive faxes on your phone)
2015 is the year for epic living! You’ll see The Weave Whisperer doing every single one of these tid bids and more! Thank you Natasha Eubanks for this invigorating advice and thank you to ColorComm for throwing this fabulous event. If you are interested in joining ColorComm please visit their website to see if they have a chapter in your area!
It’s beginning to look a lot like the holidays, parties wherever you turn! I had the pleasure of being a Glambassador for Red Sprinkle’s Popup Beauty Lounge 3! As expected, they did not disappoint! DC socialites flocked to the event with the likes of Ashley Joy of Life by Ashley Joy, Dani Starr from The Kane Show and The District Insider.
Redsprinkle’s Pop Up Beauty Lounge was created three years ago to raise money for their Fashion Scholarship Fund . The founders Madiana and Rebecca Margao were all smiles as supporters filled Release the Blowdry making the cause a success!
The Pop Up Beauty Lounge is a full service one-stop shop for fabulousness! Supporters were greeted with complimentary beauty services such as, manicures, makeovers and Birthday Cake wines kept everyones glasses full.
The experience didn’t stop there. Shopping was plentiful and to be had. Dache Hair, Mila and Fire, Pique Boutique, Jamberry Nails and Closet Fit all helped us burn a whole in our pockets. In my defense I was Christmas shopping for loved one.
Thank you to Redsprinkle for allowing me to be apart of an event that I’ve attended for the past 3 years! If you would like to learn about Redsprinkle please visit their website here.
