Stop Sweating Your Pressed Hair Out at Night!

“Rock that groovy dye dashiki/ Nefertiti, edges kinky/ Sweatin’ out my blow out/ Sweatin’ out my press/ This trick about to go off/Mad cause I’m so fresh”

Straight hair stresses me out, period! If I decide to press my natural curls, kinks and coils out, I need to preserve the press. Because I’m not putting heat on it over and over again!

I noticed sometimes when I wrap my hair at night, I wake up with kinky, curly edges!

Here’s How I prevent This:

    1. Use Breathable Bedding

Screen Shot 2015-09-08 at 1.37.27 PMSome of us get very hot while we sleep! That can cause a lot of curly haired girls, like myself a lot of fizz! Studies show that most people sleep best in a slightly cool room around 65° F.

Make sure your bedding, fits the season! I use a light sheet and recently I’ve been using SHEEX. SHEEX are bedding that have material that mimic athletic performance clothing! It wicks away moisture and transfers body heat 2X more effectively than cotton! Screen Shot 2015-09-10 at 2.39.48 PM

Try SHEEX!

  • 2. Use Breathable Head Scarfs

StraightOuttaSomewhereYes, your scarf can be doing more harm than good! Along with causing unnecessary breakage, your scarf could be making you sweat!

I opt for the mesh wrap that fits across your head and doesn’t cover your entire head.

There are even thinner wraps than the one pictured, that you can purchase at your local beauty supply store.

Another favorite is a Dri-Sweat head wrap.  It was the same sweat wicking properties as the SHEEX sheets!  This is super helpful for those who are heavy night sweaters! Screen Shot 2015-09-10 at 3.11.52 PMScreen Shot 2015-09-10 at 3.14.13 PMScreen Shot 2015-09-10 at 3.14.32 PM

  1. So glad I stumbled upon this!! I want to do the vixen sew-in with my Uzbek hair extensions but I’m scared my hair will get all frizzy.
